Another year, another fresh start! This is typically the time of year where we lay out our flaws in the form of a resolution in hopes of creating a new habit cycle to keep us growing. We all know how that goes.... Welp, in order to make sure we obtain our KERO goals this year and don't fade out by the end of January we have 2 trusty cans of Popeye spinach that will keep us on track. Accountability and transparency.
In case you didn't know - the two of us work full time jobs that can be very demanding on our time even outside of business hours. Our commitment to you, our supporter, is that we will actively respond to each one of you moving forward - something we were very inconsistent with in 2013. Additionally, as our business grows (or shrinks) we plan to keep our journey transparent. Consider yourselves all our coaches, keeping us accountable and calling us out when we fail you. In return, we will offer you our time outside of work to respond to messages and keep KERO moving. Afterall, you cannot grow when you stay comfortable in one spot.
Now we must ask you! -- What changes do you want to see for yourself this year? What measures have you taken to prevent yourself from failing? Are you accountable for your mission or are you already surveying the land for scapegoats?
Five years ago around this time of year I was seeking a new year long challenge. At the time, I had never ran more than a 3 mile race in my life. I decided to sign up for the Chicago Marathon and decided to tell everyone about it. I spread the news, mostly, because I knew that the initial excitement of my intentions would eventually spread thin and that I would struggle to follow through on my own. Several times in the early going I was tempted to quit - however I knew I couldn't fail all my friends and family I shared my commitment with. That October, I ended up finishing the marathon under 4 hours. I succeeded because I identified my weaknesses and created a safety net of accountability for when motivation was difficult to find.
In 2014 KERO will run it's first marathon. We look forward to servicing you! Now... We must ask again... What are your plans for this year?
