It's incredible how quickly the landscape changes. For example, Kickstarter didn't exist 5 years ago, online selling platforms such as shopify weren't around - hell, even twitter wasn't around 5 years ago. Which makes me curious how often do we actual shy away from reading an actual blog because it is longer than a paragraph? We have really gotten lazy with the way we ingest content. Even myself, I find myself focusing more on blogs that feature pictures and clips vs. the good ole days when it was just black and white ink.
And to make matters worse, we merely skim through the material and only pay attention if it is radically different. (These 'radically different' posts tend to be the videos and pictures you end up seeing 5 times throughout the day weaving in all of your social media platforms.) Everything else ends up being white noise and we hardly raise a brow. And finally, those few blog posts we did deem worthy of our attention are immediately flushed out and replaced by the new ones that appear in our feed the following day. Of course I am completely generalizing - but it truly is fascinating how much our conversations involve "Did you see ____" or "Did you see ______ is coming out." ..Our every day conversations are deflections of the blogs we read vs. sharing and creating our own unique thoughts and ideas.
With all of that said, I wanted to conduct a little experiment. While of course we plan to put all the bells and whistles on these announcements via social media in the weeks to come - let's see how much attention they get in just plain old black and white ink. We are working hard to get KERO going! In the next 6 weeks we will be offering a 3rd color Nomad in the color Cool Grey. We will be offering a 10 ft cable that we are calling the 'Lasso Cable' - it will come with a velcro strap to maximize it's function. And we will be shipping out our 3rd successfully funded product on Kickstarter, the Cable Weight. We are thrilled to deliver these exciting products.
There is really no way to measure how successful this experiment is for 2 reasons: 1) No one probably reads this blog. haha. 2) It's hard to measure. So! ...Let's up the ante. If you read this blog post, mention it on our facebook page or tweet at us... Tell us what you think! In fact, the first 10 of you who come across this blog can use the discount code 'KEROBLOG' to get 40% off your order off our website!
Thanks for all your support! The feedback we get from you is tremendous - it's what keeps us up late on weeknights working on KERO before we go to our day jobs the next day. :)
Lastly, this week: pay attention to your habits and question them. You'd be surprised how many 5 minute pockets of free time you take to skim through social media feeds that don't challenge your thoughts.
